The Incomplete Dictionary of Show Birds

04Dec12

Luke Stephenson has a new book featuring show birds. Show birds? I didn’t know that such a thing existed, but apparently, it is quite a big deal. They are quite beautiful and I suppose their being show birds leads to the wonderful posing that was captured. The British photographer started the project that has now become an obsession. During the process he spends time with the enthusiastic owners (mostly men) who have made the hobby a lifetime calling. If interested you can choose one of the four limited edition covers by sending Stephenson a message, via Twitter naturally. When visiting his website be sure to check out the World Beard and Moustache Championships and the Clown Egg Register.   pb

From the artist…

‘There are so many more I would love to photograph, which is why it is “incomplete”,’ says Stephenson. ‘It’s something I imagine I’ll return to throughout my life, a never-ending project that could become my life’s work.
