Joe Columbo’s Wohnmodel 1969

In 1969 Joe Columbo created a prototype for modern living, Futuristic Habitat.  The concept included three coordinated units, Central-Living for leisure, Night-Cell that could be closed for sleep with bath and closets, and Kitchen-Box that contained an air-conditioned space with a pull out dining table. It was shown at the Visiona exhibit by Bayer AG in the same year.  He pursued a career in design after giving up being an artist and went on to design for Kartell, Alessi, and Flexform among many others.  Sadly, he died in 1971 on his 41st birthday.   pb
