How green is your bed?

23Feb12

While we all like to feel we are contributing to the green movement to help save our planet, we certainly don’t have to resort to actually sleeping on grass.  Spectra Wood is here to save the day!  Located in State College, PA, this family owned business makes this statement about the Green Movement and they also make beautiful pieces of furniture in the process.  pb

“Over the last few years there has been a tremendous amount of press dedicated to the “Green Movement” in our industry. While professing to be “green” might help drive a marketing campaign, Spectra Wood’s commitment to environmentally safe principles goes way beyond any slogan or publicity stunt. Since our inception, we have been committed to making furniture with lasting designs using solid hardwood materials transported from local forests, recycling our wood dust with local farmers and utilizing lower VOCs (volatile organic compounds) and HAPs (hazardous air pollutants) finishes on our product lines.

While many US furniture manufactures continue to source overseas products, all our products are manufactured in our State College, Pennsylvania facility. In addition, we are continually investing in new equipment and cutting-edge employee training to allow us to successfully compete against the tide of mass-produced imports that have saturated the market. Through innovative ways of crafting furniture using less energy and producing less waste, we are committed to helping maintain our environment while providing our customers with the quality they have come to expect from Spectra Wood.

Since wood is the most fundamental part of our business, we strive to make sure we use our most valuable resource in the most prudent way possible. We are the second generation of a proud family business and we want nothing more to ensure the third generation has the ability to continue producing the solid wood furniture that carries our name.”
