“I am not brave enough to not pay my income tax and risk going to jail. But I can say rather freely what I want to say with my art.”

Corita Kent ran the Art Department, as Sister Corita, at the Immaculate Heart College during the 1960′s and looked forward to the month of August, that was her time to create her own art. In 1968 Kent left the order to devote all of her time to producing art in Boston. She gained international attention for her eye-popping serigraphs that expressed her devotion to social justice, hope for peace, spirituality, and pure delight in the world.  To learn more about her visit the website devoted to her.   pb
